Instrumental Tuition

I provide personalised tuition in guitar (electric/rock, classical, acoustic, Spanish), bass guitar and drums.

It is within my teaching philosophy to not only inspire students to achieve their best musically, but also encourage, support and advise them when attempting practical exams in their instrument (if they wish).

Exams can be undertaken through either the
Rockschool London (Rock/Popular Music) syllabus or the AMEB (Classical) syllabus.

Exam Levels can range from the pre-beginner grade right up to the more advanced diplomas and a
lthough the word, "exam", may sound daunting, in reality, it is not a stressful experience at all. :)

In a typical 30 minute lesson, I will usually spend approximately 10 minutes of each lesson on exam material, leaving at least a further 15-20 minutes for the contemporary, fun and enjoyable popular/rock repertoire that students love to engage with.

In my years of experience, I have found that the long-term educational difference between students who have completed music exams and those who have not is quite apparent. Moreover, if a student does decide to pursue a career in the music industry then these exams are highly valued and strongly recommended anyway.

Please also note that the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) has recognised the Rockschool and AMEB Exams as "contributing studies" for the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). For further information regarding these studies please go to the following website:

Music is a transformative, educational and rewarding influence in an individual's life, and the future of music (in its multiple and diverse forms) will remain an exciting, challenging and creative element of the modern technological world.
